Learn HTML and CSS For Free

If you’re just starting out learning how to do your own web pages or you just want to learn the basics on understanding how HTML and CSS works, you should check out W3schools for some great tutorials. They are “the” authority on everything internet related when it comes to how it all works. The hands on, real time HTML guides are easy to use and let you make changes to a page layout as you go. Thery start you out with the most basic examples of code then slowly walk you through more and more advanced stuff and you can go at your own pace.

Their lessons are all completely free and are perfect for the beginner as well as the advanced coder who needs to “brush up” on whats new. W3schools also has a multitude of other web based tutorials on everything from learning XML, browser scripting and server language.

We have another new Blogger BETA XML skin up for you today too, it’s called Terra Blue. Basically identical to the Terra Green theme except it’s in nice, mellow shades of blue. It has a nice web 2.0 feel to as well, which seems to be all the rage these days in web design. Check it out and enjoy!

Two New XML Themes Added

We’ve got two brand new XML templates in the Blogger gallery for you today, they’re both optimized for using Bloggers drag and drop widgets and as always, the images are hosted at www.photobucket.com. This makes them extremely easy to use since you don’t have to fuss with getting the images hosted and mess with any HTML code. Just download and unzip the very small file, then copy and paste the entire contents of that .txt file into your Blogger Edit HTML window after saving then deleting the existing contents.

To avoid losing your existing customizations and links, etc, make a backup copy! If you don’t know how to do that, there’s an easy to follow picture guide over at Blog Flak that walks you through it, step by step.

As always, enjoy the new themes and don’t forget to leave us some feedback!

CSS Basics / Learning CSS

CSS Basics has some great tutorials on learning how to write your own style sheets complete with a number of easy to follow examples. It’s all broken down into category pages starting with an introduction and working it’s way up to the more advanced stuff. Even if you’re a seasoned code writer it’s always good to refresh your memory on some of the cool stuff you can do.

You never know, you just may learn a few new tricks and at the very least it’s also a handy definition reference for what you can and can’t do. I really liked the way the site is layed out and easy navigation with nothing unneccessary to get in the way of what you’re trying to find.
